Can you Play Spotify on Fitbit

As we know that higher-end Fitbit models allow you to download compatible music streaming apps. But until recently, the only options available were less popular services like Deezer and Pandora. Fitbit has added Spotify to its list of compatible streaming music apps, so if you own a Fitbit smartwatch that supports app installation, you can now link your Spotify account to your smartwatch.

As one of the many benefits of having a smart watch is being able to control content from your wrist without having to take your phone out of your pocket. That includes music playback control.

In this article, we will show you how to Listen to Spotify on your Fitbit. While this solution only works with high-end Fitbit smartwatches, if you own a compatible watch, this will make gym workouts more fun.

Which Fitbit watches are compatible with Spotify?

Only high-end Fitbit smartwatches work with Spotify. At the time of writing, you’ll need one of these hours to listen to Spotify on Fitbit:

  • verse 2
  • Versa
  • VersaLite
  • Ionic

If you have a different Fitbit, you won’t be able to use this feature. Also, you must have a Spotify Premium account; Since free account doesn’t work with fitbit app. We think that Spotify Premium Subscription is worth it, so consider signing up for a free trial if this feature appeals to you.

We will demonstrate this process with the Versa 2, but it should be the same for other watches. Check out our Fitbit model comparison if you’re not sure which one you have.

  1. Install the Spotify app on your Fitbit
To get started, you’ll need to have the Spotify app installed on your Fitbit watch. Do this by opening the Fitbit app on your phone and tapping your profile picture in the top right.

Next, select your watch from the list of devices. In your device settings, tap Apps.

You may have Spotify pre-installed; Check it below My Apps To see all installed apps. If not, go to the All apps tab and search for Spotify by browsing or searching for it.

Click تثبيت on the Spotify app page, then wait for the process to complete. Once you do that, you need to accept the permissions for it to work properly. Select the permissions on this page to check them if necessary.

  1. Authorize access to your Spotify account
Once you install the Spotify app, you will need to sign in. If you’re still on the app page, select Settings from there. If not, you can go back to My Apps and select Spotify from the menu, then choose Settings.

Here, you will need to sign in to your Spotify account to authorize it with your Fitbit. Once this is done, you are ready to go.

How to use Spotify on Fitbit

To open Spotify on your Fitbit, turn on your watch and swipe from right to left on the home screen to see your apps. Select Spotify from the list and you will see a connection screen as it searches for compatible devices.

To connect successfully, you’ll need to play the music on another device connected to your Spotify account. This can be a desktop, laptop, tablet, or even a Bluetooth headset that supports Spotify Connect.

After a moment, you will see information about the currently playing track on your watch. Use the controls to play/pause, change tracks, change shuffle mode, and add the song to your library.

If you want to start something new, swipe from left to right. You’ll see some of your recently played playlists, albums, and artists for easy access. Otherwise, tap Library and you can access all your Spotify playlists and content for “Made for You” as well as Spotify exercise playlists to help you get fit.

Change the device used to play music
The Spotify Connect button at the top left allows you to change which device is playing music. For best results based on our tests, music should be played through a phone connected to your Fitbit.

When controlling music playback on a desktop computer, the Fitbit app only displayed the play/pause button and the call button. To see the track information and the rest of the controls, we had to switch to playing music on the phone.

You can listen to Spotify on Fitbit, but it’s limited
As we explained, the Spotify app for Fitbit is more of a remote control option for playing music on the go than a real standalone app.

Although you can pair bluetooth headphones with a Fitbit watch, Spotify doesn’t work with this setup. So you’ll need to pair the wireless earbuds with your phone and use the Fitbit app as a convenient controller from your wrist.

Supports most Fitbit watches discussed music services Others that work without your phone. The Pandora app, for example, offers offline listening with a Pandora Plus account. You can also sync music locally with Versa 2.
