When was the last time you cleaned your smartwatch?
The best fitness trackers and smart watches are designed to be Clean Over time, they start to get dirty. After a while, the strap starts to wear out and the case gets grime.
Clean your Apple Watch
The official Apple Watches care instructions recommend using a dry, lint-free cloth for daily cleaning. If your watch needs more thorough cleaning, remove special straps (leather, for example), then wipe it with a damp cloth or rinse it with warm water. When you’re done, dry it thoroughly before wearing.
You can also clean the digital crown under running water, by turning it and squeezing it while the water is running over it to remove any accumulated dirt. Again, dry it thoroughly with a clean cloth, making sure to absorb any water that has collected between the crown and the watch case.
If you use one of Apple’s silicone bands, you can clean it with mild, hypoallergenic soap and water.
Clean your Fitbit device
Fitbit has some great tips for keeping your fitness tracker’s electrical contacts in good working order. You can clean the watch contacts and charger pins using rubbing alcohol, then finish with a dry cloth or tissue (making sure not to leave any lint behind).
Make sure everything is completely dry before attempting to charge your device, and never scratch the lenses with anything metallic as this may damage the coating.
As for the silicone band, Fitbit advises avoiding harsh products like hand sanitizer, dish soap, or hand soap. If your band looks dirty, you can clean it in fresh water with a mild soap-free cleanser.
Clean your Garmin watch
Garmin watches are known to be very durable, and they will last even longer if cared for properly. Garmin offers comprehensive advice on caring for your device to keep it in good condition and avoid skin irritation.
One of the most important (and easily overlooked) tips is to always rinse your watch and let it dry after a sweaty workout. If your watch has a leather or suede strap, replace it with a silicone strap before engaging in strenuous activity.
Metal and leather rings can be cleaned with a dry or damp, lint-free cloth, nylon rings can be rinsed, and silicone or TPU elastomers can be rinsed or wiped with a little rubbing alcohol if you must. remove residue such as insect repellent or sunscreen.
You can keep the case clean by rinsing it or using a damp cloth. A soft toothbrush is a good choice if you need to clean the lenses, but don’t push bristles (or anything else) into the microphone or speaker openings like those on the Garmin Venu 2 Plus .
Garmin recommends cleaning the outside of the watch case with a wipe containing 70% isopropyl alcohol or a disinfectant wipe, but it is advisable to rinse and dry it afterwards to avoid irritate your skin.
