Buy a Classic Watch and not a Smartwatch?

Buy a Classic Watch and not a Smartwatch?

Posted on May 16, 2022September 22, 2023

In this digital age and constant connection, we tell you why it is time for you to bet on a traditional watch.

Classic watch vs Smartwatch

We know, smart watches (smartwatch) have gained great popularity in recent years, but we must not forget the classics.

The reason for the popularity of smart watches? They have a wide variety of functions, which can range from measuring how much physical activity you did during the day, to notifying you the exact moment an email has arrived. But, without a doubt, for those who are more of the old school, a classic timepiece will always be a better option. If you are about to buy a watch, and you don’t know which of the two options to decide on (smart or traditional), here we give you 3 compelling reasons that will make you decide for the ‘vintage’ version of the traditional ones.

Before starting, as a cultural fact, we want to emphasize that watches with technology were created since the 1980s with Seiko. The Japanese brand began to include new adaptations and functions to watches, such as calculators or agenda organizers, which provided a futuristic look. Without a doubt, it was with the launches of Apple and Samsung that smartwatches took a giant step forward in their technology, making it clear that they came to establish themselves as one of the favorite accessories of the new -and not so new- generations. Making this point clear, now is the time to give you our three reasons why a traditional watch will always be a better investment.

  1. The savoir-faire
Watches are considered an accessory that perfectly blends craftsmanship with technology. On the one hand, they are pieces that aesthetically manage to please anyone, in addition, they have a mechanical structure inside that only expert watchmaking craftsmen can manufacture perfectly. Summarized in a simple way, the process to create a timepiece begins with the design -taking into account aesthetics and mechanisms-, choice of materials (gold, titanium, steel, diamonds, etc.) and finally the manufacture and assembly of each of the tiny pieces that will make up the clock. You cannot imagine everything that is under the case of a watch.
  2. Piece of jewelry
Traditional watches are considered one of the typical pieces of jewelry in the male wardrobe. Composed of a large number of tiny parts, watches -especially luxury ones- include, either inside or outside, small precious stones such as sapphire or diamonds, in addition to metals, mainly steel. Also, the design of these is timeless. A traditional watch is created to never go out of style, they can even become collector’s items that can be inherited from generation to generation.
  3. No connection
Without a doubt, there are those addicted to technology, whether in a matter of always being connected or in the interest of acquiring the latest releases. On the other hand, there are those men – young and old – who also seek to put aside the excessive connection that can be had during the day. For them, the best option will always be a traditional watch, since, without a problem, they will be able to put aside their cell phones and laptops to disconnect for a while from all the digital hustle and bustle.
